Placodontiformes es un clado de reptiles marinos pertenecientes al grupo Sauropterygia, que abarca a los placodontes y al no placodonte Palatodonta. Este grupo fue denominado en 2013 con la descripción científica de Palatodonta. Placodontiformes es el clado más basal de Sauropterygia y es el taxón hermano de Eosauropterygia, el cual incluye a todos los demás sauropterigios.[1]​
